We are currently supporting a fantastic small SEMH school based in Central Birmingham, who are seeking a Caretaker to join their dedicated team. Hours: 20 hours per week (1:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday) The School: Our client is a small, innovative school committed to supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. They are looking for a reliable and proactive Caretaker to help maintain their school environment, ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and overall wellbeing of both students and staff. The school fosters a close-knit and supportive community, and this role is integral to ensuring the smooth running of the school on a day-to-day basis. Key Responsibilities: Health, Safety & Security: Conducting regular checks around the school site, ensuring the environment is safe and secure, including overseeing the dismissal of students and locking up at the end of the day. Cleaning & Maintenance: Carrying out routine cleaning duties across the site, including the kitchen, classrooms, and general communal areas. Performing basic repairs and ensuring the upkeep of the building (e.g., painting, fixing door handles, etc.). Gardening & Grounds: Maintaining the school’s outdoor spaces by cutting grass, collecting leaves, and ensuring the garden areas are tidy and presentable. School Transport & Vehicle Duties: Cleaning and fuelling school vehicles, carrying out daily checks, and ensuring the vehicles are safe and ready for use. General Support: Assisting with the welfare of students, including supporting first aid and health-related tasks, and ensuring smooth operations for any contractors or maintenance services on-site.
