We are an established, well-respected and growing multi-disciplinary consultancy with offices throughout the UK, Australia, New Zealand and South Asia. We have an exciting opportunity available for an accomplished Quantity Surveyor to join our team working out of our Bristol office and work on regional projects within the Southwest of England.
Our project portfolio in the Southwest is diverse and this role would therefore suit a Quantity Surveyor who enjoys working on a variety of projects across multiple sectors of the built environment. Whilst working with TSA Riley, you can expect to gain exposure to projects within the residential, commercial, retail, healthcare sectors and more.
We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor who has completed their degree and/or masters qualification and has spent a number of years in a Quantity Surveying/Cost Management role where they will have gained exposure to the full spectrum of pre and post contract duties. You will have the ability to act in the lead cost management role on one or more projects and the ability to effectively engage with the client.
Key tasks and responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor role include:
* Working as part of a team of Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers reporting into the Technical Director whilst providing a cost consulting role to the client.
* Ensure that our clients achieve their stated objectives through close teamwork, proactive cost control and the provision of contractual advice.
* Performing a fund monitoring role for lenders.
* Attend and/or chair meetings with clients.
* Prepare financial reports.
* Monitor the communication of a project status.
* Prepare full tender documentation.
* Provide advice on contractors, specialists, procurement routes, cost and programme solutions.
* Provide advice on suitability and preparation of contract documents.
* Prepare management reports.
* Monitor performance milestones and deliverables.
* Administer cost/variation procedures.
* Carry out full post contract surveying duties including establishing the effect of variations, settlement of accounts and disputes.
* Provide day-to-day cost management of projects from estimate preparation and cost planning through to final account settlements.
Desired qualifications and experience:
* A relevant degree or masters qualification in quantity surveying or a similar equivalent subject.
* Working towards chartership with the RICS is desired.
* Prior experience of working in a Quantity Surveying role for a similar consultancy carrying out full pre and post contract duties.
* Demonstrable experience of acting in the Project QS role and taking the day-to-day leadership on one or more projects from conception through to completion, with the support of a senior manager.
* Strong client facing and stakeholder engagement skills are essential and demonstrable experience of acting in the lead role to the client, providing traditional cost management services.
* Prior experience of working in the Employers Agent role would be advantageous but may not be essential.
* Familiar with common forms of contract such as JCT and NEC.
* Demonstrable experience of carrying out tendering and procurement processes.
