A little more about your role…
The A9 Tomatin to Moy comprises the upgrade to dual carriageway standard of approximately 10 kilometres of the A9 trunk road, with a new grade separated junction at Tomatin and four new left in/left out junctions located, south of the main dualling scheme at Tomatin south, Moy, Lynebeg and a forestry access to the north of the main dualling works. There are new structures over the Highland Main Line Railway and beneath the dual carriageway at Tomatin junction and Lynebeg junction, along with more than 40 culverts throughout the scheme. Other features include new lay-bys, bus turning facilities and enhanced footpaths and cycleways. The Scottish Government’s A9 Dualling delivery plan can be found here.
WSP has been appointed (in joint venture since 2015) and the Tomatin to Moy project is the first major construction contract that Transport Scotland has tendered in the NEC4 contract form. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in this major Design and Build project which has an estimated tender value of £186 million, and completion of the main dualling works by early 2028.
To assist and support the NEC Supervisor to fulfil their respective duties in relation to the construction of the Scheme.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
1. Relevant experience as a highways or structures inspector in a similar role on major transport infrastructure schemes.
2. Extensive experience in supervising contractors’ activities and monitoring contractors’ compliance with the scope of the contract.
3. Understanding of the works information and ability to identify and record contractor’s compliance with the works information.
4. Notifying defects or Non-Conformity Reports (NCRs) and overseeing the correction of such defects or NCRs.
5. Able to keep accurate and comprehensive records of all site activities.
6. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Specification for Highways Works.
7. Competence with ITS systems and able to learn relevant software needed to perform your role.
