We are looking for 2 Dietetic Assistant Practitioners (DAPs) to join the HEFT. You will be joining a well-established team of DAPs working with dietitians, nurses and admin support to care for patients in the community of Gloucestershire who require enteral feeding at home.
The post holder will be required to drive around the county to provide both dietetic and nursing support to the HEF patients; therefore, you will need a UK driving licence.
Main duties of the job
These posts would be suitable for someone who holds, or is willing to work towards, a foundation degree/Level 5 qualification or equivalent in health/social care or a science, with care experience and a keen interest in nutrition support.
The 4 DAP roles in the team work to support our different speciality areas: Adult Dietetics, Neurology Dietetics, Paediatric Dietetics, and our Enteral Nutrition Nurse Specialists. Although rotational to allow for maximal development opportunities, we are currently looking for individuals to support our Paediatric Dietitians and our Enteral Nutrition Nurse Specialists.
1. Working across the county of Gloucestershire supporting specialist Dietitians and Enteral Nutrition Nurse Specialists to deliver care to those living at home with feeding tubes.
2. Working autonomously with patients in their own homes to undertake measurements, gather and review information on feeding plans and provide tube care, including hands-on repairs of feeding tubes.
3. Taking calls from patients, gathering information and helping to formulate appropriate care plans for both Dietitians and Nurses.
4. Supporting and delivering training to service users and other Health Care Professionals.
About us
The post holder will be joining a small friendly team of experienced clinicians and will have access and links with dietitians in the wider dietetic department. The post holder will have access to bespoke education and training opportunities, working toward completing the Department DAP Competency Framework whilst working within the British Dietetic Association (BDA) professional Code of Professional Conduct.
The team is based at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and sits within a bustling and friendly Nutrition and Dietetic Department.
Core working hours are 08:30-16:30 Monday to Friday.
The department has excellent mobile computer facilities.

Person Specification
Qualifications/ Education
* Foundation degree/NVQ level 5 or equivalent in health/social care or science, OR demonstrates dedication to learning and displays understanding of wanting to progress education via further study at level 5.
* Experience of healthcare/public sector/educational settings.
* Information Technology literate, capable with MS Office and Internet-based applications and an understanding of and experience in application of IT to support clinical practice.
* Experience working in the NHS.
* Experience working in the community setting.
Experience, Skills and Knowledge
* Demonstrate an understanding of nutrition and dietetics and a basic understanding of its application to the prevention and treatment of disease.
* Demonstrate a basic understanding of applied nutrition and food skills.
* Demonstrate a basic understanding of physiology, biochemistry and infection control appropriate to the role.
* Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, team working & oral communication skills.
* Demonstrates the ability to write clearly with accuracy in grammar and structure.
* Demonstrate good organisational skills.
* Understanding of information governance and confidentiality.
* Demonstration of self-motivation and commitment to learning.
* Experience in producing work/audits/reports in a timely manner.
