Job summary The Outpatients Department at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital is housed in a modern purpose-built building which covers two floors at the front of the hospital; and is very much the front door to the care and services provided by the Trust. We as a Trust are very proud of our Care Quality Commission GOOD Status and have recently achieved Elective Hub Accreditation. As one of the country's few Elective Orthopaedic Specialist Hospitals, 'The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital' receives referrals & transfers only and therefore has no 'Emergency Department'. This allows our nurses to focus their attention on the delivery of truly holistic and patient centred care. In the role of Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse for Outpatients, you will assist the senior sister and work alongside the existing deputy sisters in the delivery, standards, and management of patient care in the department. You will provide guidance, support, and clinical leadership to the team, while working closely with Senior Sister to ensure effective use of departmental resources. You will be expected to deputise for the Senior Sister in their absence and to support and educate junior staff within the clinical area. You will work closely with medical and operational colleagues as we develop and expand our Outpatient Service. Main duties of the job To assist the department manager/senior charge nurse in the responsibility of the delivery, standards and management of patient care on the ward or department. To provide guidance, support and clinical leadership to the clinical team, while working closely with Senior Sister/ senior charge nurse to ensure effective use of ward and departmental resources.
