Position: Sole Legal Counsel
Reporting to: Chief Commercial Officer
About the Role:
Our client, a dynamic and growing organisation, is seeking a qualified Legal Counsel to take ownership of legal matters and support business expansion in the UK and internationally. This role offers the opportunity to shape your position and make a significant impact. You will be instrumental in client contract negotiations, providing legal guidance to the executive team and broader business, and ensuring compliance with UK and international regulations. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will be supported by the executive team and external legal advisors as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
You will review, draft, and negotiate various commercial contracts, including client, vendor, and outsourcing agreements. Ensure the company complies with UK and international laws, including corporate governance, employment, and commercial regulations. Identify and address legal risks, advising stakeholders on risk reduction strategies. Oversee compliance with data protection laws, including GDPR, advising on best practices in data security and privacy. Provide clear and practical legal advice to non-legal stakeholders, ensuring alignment between business objectives and legal compliance. Support the business in key transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
What We’re Looking For:
Our client seeks a qualified solicitor (UK) with strong post-qualified experience in commercial, corporate, or technology law. You should have a minimum of two years’ experience in private practice within a law firm and proven experience managing legal risks on complex projects and large-scale programmes. Expertise in data protection and compliance, including GDPR and data security, is essential. Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects simultaneously, are required. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to translate legal concepts for non-legal colleagues, are crucial.
