Our Sidmouth and Dawlish services provide housing-related support for people with high support needs. The purpose of the service is to enable people placed out of area to return to Devon. The service aims to support people in gaining the skills they need to live independently.
How You Will Make a Difference:
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will provide essential support to individuals affected by mental illness, helping them regain confidence and engage in daily social and workplace activities. You'll work closely with service users to help them achieve their personal goals and access the necessary support on their recovery journey.
* Key Worker Support: Provide one-to-one support to a specified number of service users, liaising with other mental health agencies on their behalf.
* Individual-Centered Care: Always prioritise the individual’s needs, utilizing the recovery model along with communication, motivation, and coaching skills to help service users achieve their goals.
* Professional Rapport: Develop respectful and honest relationships with service users while maintaining professional boundaries and adhering to the Rethink Mental Illness Code of Conduct.
Essential Experience and Skills Required:
* Transferable life or work experience relevant to this role.
* Strong listening skills, empathy, understanding, kindness, patience, and a willingness to learn.
* Ability to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the values of the Charity.
* Experience in supporting people with mental illness or providing care/support services in another social care setting, either paid or voluntary.
