Disrupting the Football Industry / Founder of Shirt in a Box
Shirt in a Box is primarily an online retailer of mystery sports jerseys, based in Belfast, UK. Shirt in a Box sources jerseys from various manufacturers and clubs worldwide, then sells them to customers in the UK, Ireland, and the USA through mystery boxes on its online store.
Founded in 2021, Shirt in a Box has grown to a team of four full-time staff and recorded revenues of £7 million to date. Following a record-breaking 2022, thanks to the World Cup, the past 12 months have been a period of alignment for the brand. They’ve expanded their product range into different sports and internalised all departments. This means they no longer outsource any part of the business, building a team that handles all customer service, fulfilment, and marketing internally.
The team is young and close-knit, with a “can-do” attitude. Maximum effort and hard work are the baseline – like any great sporting team. This is a role for someone who relishes a challenge, not one who shies away from it. Moreover, setting aside ego and being able to support various parts of the business when needed is essential. They are keen to diversify perspectives, so football knowledge is not a requirement for this role.
With plans to further their upward trajectory, they are focused on hiring a junior graphic designer. Working alongside a creative strategist, and reporting into the CEO, you’ll be responsible for creating new graphics which will be used for paid online marketing campaigns, primarily on META.
You’ll be responsible for helping generate ideas, creating designs, and refining existing designs. Products range from football and basketball jerseys to custom artwork.
The ideal candidate will be someone who can analyse existing campaigns, research competitors’ ads, and use this information to create high-converting concepts at scale.
Main Accountabilities
1. Deliver Objectives:
2. Research: Analyse ads from across e-commerce, not limited to competitors, ensuring you stay updated with evolving trends.
3. Testing: Test various ideas, including gifting, customer testimonials, USP, and sales-heavy statistics.
4. Design: Create unique, impressive designs that convert customers.
5. Communication: Collaborate with our creative strategist, who will lead with concepts.
6. Iterate: Analyse successful ads and use this information to improve.
7. Quality: While volume is essential, quality must not be compromised. Attention to detail is crucial, and each asset should have A+ potential.
What Success Looks Like
1. 6 months: A fully functioning pipeline of at least 200 creative assets, leading to profitable ad spend growth within META.
2. 12 months: Thanks to previous successes, we’ve onboarded more creatives, and are now producing 300-500 concepts a month.
If these goals are achieved, you will be financially rewarded. Ask any current staff; we are not shy about compensating value when delivered.
