Job Description
Reporting to the office manager/s in London and Director of Acoustics, The Acoustics Engineer position forms part of the engineering team within the global structure of the company and assumes general responsibilities that pro-actively contribute to the growth of Acoustics, Theatre Planning and Audio Visual engineering capabilities and all other Inhabit supported disciplines across the globe.
This includes responsibility for all design, engineering, documentation, administration and compliance with project constraints undertaken for the Acoustics, Theatre Planning and Audio Visual discipline. You will also need to fulfil legal responsibilities commensurate with your position.
* Use established procedures, gather and correlate basic data and perform detailed or routine Design engineering duties and support for projects as assigned
* Become thoroughly familiar with local and global building codes, standards and legislative requirements
* Carry out engineering investigations, feasibility studies, preliminary designs, cost estimations, detailed designs and prepare associated reports, calculations, specifications etc., as required for the execution of projects to which you are assigned.
* Attend meetings with Clients and Architects to discuss Project details as required.
* Produce technical emails
* Provide input into and the preparation of drawings by detailers and conduct engineering reviews of the drawings
* Undertake various modelling tasks using industry software, instrumentation and specific tools to carry out duties
* Conduct measurements and analysis of room acoustics, theatre planning and audio-visual systems as required for the purpose of preparing building design / planning reports.
* Attend and undertake site/factory/mock-up test inspections and produce detailed reports.
* Through lessons learned on projects, provide input to technical library by way of project sheets
* Take an active interest in the other disciplines (Façade, BMU, Lighting, Building Physics, Logistics etc..) in order to further develop your specialist skills
Qualifications
* An acoustics degree either a masters/bachelor in acoustics engineering.
* Experience of working in an Acoustics role for a UK consultancy
