This post is for a Resident Clinical Fellow in Critical Care. This is whole time post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
Due to the imminent requirement to fill this post, the successful candidate must hold full registration with the GMC and have existing right to live and work in the UK, at the time of application.Candidates who are not GMC registered or do not hold existing right to live and work in the UK, at the time of application will not progress through shortlisting stage.
The appointee will share the responsibility for the assessment, resuscitation and treatment of all patients referred to the Critical Care Unit, working as part of a team which includes the on-call ICU consultant.
The new appointee will be expected to see patients in the Emergency Department, theatre recovery and the wards following referral from colleagues in other specialities.
The appointee will take responsibility for ensuring their ongoing medical education as agreed at Directorate level.
They will share the responsibility for direct clinical supervision and teaching of the trainee staff, nurse clinicians and medical students.
They will be allocated an Educational Supervisor.
They will be expected to participate in an active audit programme.
There will be the opportunity to develop skills in transthoracic echocardiography up to the level of FICE accreditation.
There will be the opportunity to participate in simulation based teaching and training.

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.

Clinical & Professional Responsibilities
Maintain Professional Registration with the General Medical Council
Actively participate in the appraisal and revalidation process for doctors.
Adhere to relevant Codes of Practice as outlined by the GMC.
Administrative Responsibilities
Ensure Medical records are kept up to date.
Complete electronic discharge as appropriate.
Complete electronic VTE assessments
Teaching and Training Responsibilities
Maintain good medical practice through CPD and reflective practice
Attend relevant departmental teaching programme.
Research and Audit
Participate in regular departmental audit
