Role Description : Support of the ICE database environment, comprising of SQL Server instances To work within the Delivery environment organising and overseeing all customer-based IT SQL Server implementations, developing quality processes and documentation for installation to satisfy the customer and business requirements. Working closely with the Service Desk and development teams to solve customer SQL Server issues as required and to lead in customer database upgrades, sizing and server specification as required. Delivering support in accordance with product lifecycle processes in accordance with the product roadmap. To keep abreast of SQL Server products and functionality. To work with and support Technical Sales, Sales and Bids when required to ensure accurate and timely quotations and technical specifications. Responsibilities: To work with and follow the guidance of the Professional Services DBA Team Lead and the Technical Services Manager. To comply with the CliniSys codes of conduct and guidelines Install RDBMS software and database patches (Cumulative Updates). Define, implement, and uphold security measures for all SQL Server environments in line with approved Clinisys standards. Develop and design SQL Server backup and recovery procedures. Review, design and document Disaster Recovery procedures. Provide impact analysis reports on database configuration/schema changes. Perform SQL database installations to support the ICE software. Recommend best practice SQL tuning. Prepare and deliver SQL Server in-house training to other technical staff. To work with other members of technical services on customer database issues, upgrades, sizing, tuning etc. as required and recommend any product changes. Undertake any reasonable DBA request (Design, Sizing, tuning, upgrades, issue resolution, etc.) when directed to do so by either their direct line manager (team leader), or the head of department and execute to the best of his/her ability, working within the companies ISO processes. To be familiar with all company processes, with a specific focus on those where that individual has direct responsibility. Research and design database/infrastructure solutions for scalability based on business requirements. Provide proactive monitoring of the database instances and take preventive steps (setting up alerts) to ensure high availability as business continuity. Conduct iterative and high-performance tuning of HA and database environments throughout the product lifecycle. To act on a consultancy basis for completing any pre-sales requirements. These may include but are not limited to: Review customer’s existing infrastructure in terms of Database/platform sizing and design. Match to contractual performance, availability, etc. Contribute to managing suppliers and get best value. Perform effectively when presented with challenging timescales Administration of SQL Server 2017, and above Proficient in T-SQL, PL/SQL, Powershell and scripting. Use of MS Office tools (to include Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Visio, Powerpoint etc). Physical database design Required experience & education: Five years’ experience in SQL Server database administration and design, preferably within a software solutions house. Proven experience in implementation of high availability solutions with Microsoft SQL Server 2017 to SQL Server 2022, including windows failover cluster instances, SQL Server database mirroring, SQL Server Always-On availability groups, and transactional log shipping. Experience of installing and configuration of SQL Server databases Extensive SQL Server optimisation experience Extensive experience of large-scale database design, sizing and administration on both physical and virtual platforms. Experience in data migrations, patching and bug fix scripts. Degree educated or equivalent Preferred Skills and Experience: Experience in the UK or Ireland Health sectors would be useful. Experience of Cloud, especially Microsoft Azure Awareness of ITIL and Project Management methodologies. Logical database Design Knowledge of SQLCMD and DBATools
