WHAT TO EXPECT
Engineering Laboratories forms the backbone of JLR's internal vehicle test and development capability, and is responsible for a wide and diverse range of activities including Structural Test, Body Rig Test, Road Load Data, Analytical Facilities, NVH, Climatic Test, and Safety Test.
The Facility & Technology Development department (F&TD) is responsible for the design and delivery of facility components, test rigs and the infrastructure required in support of the core laboratory-based test areas delivering physical test plans.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
A predominant function of this role will be the planning, design and commissioning of multiple new test facilities, rigs and systems concurrently. In addition, providing reactive support across the company to all aligned testing disciplines with any facility, rig or vehicle technical issues.
You’ll support the ongoing electrification of vehicles and vehicle systems, structural/safety/functional test facilities and rigs are increasingly including vehicle HV systems. The Integration & Simulation team is key to enabling this growth in test capability by leading the creation of new testing solutions.
1. Develop HV test environments and HV test rigs, including safety systems to requirements.
2. Develop hardware and software strategies for Facility & Technology Development for capital investment programme.
3. Liaise with JLR teams, particularly propulsion & battery DV teams, within JLR Product Engineering on a pro-active basis, to deliver projects.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
1. Knowledge of vehicle HV platforms (60volts plus).
2. Experience of HV rig system commissioning, including all infrastructure considerations.
3. Knowledge of safety systems and PLC (Pilz, Wieland, Bender).
4. Ability to interpret and implement electrical system drawings (Visio, ePlan).
5. Knowledge of vehicle & test communications technology – CAN, LIN, EtherCAT, Ethernet, FlexRay.
