Job Description
Our client is seeking a competent Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to step up.
Primary Purpose
1. Oversee the commercial and contractual management of site activities and contractors.
2. Provision of services and overall lead of all site commercial activities, ensuring an up-to-date overview of all commercial site issues.
3. Identify and take advantage of commercial opportunities while minimizing commercial risks at the construction site.
4. Guide and monitor other commercial site personnel, allocating tasks to the team.
5. Responsible for claim management for site works, establishing necessary supporting documentation, assessing risk as well as incoming and outgoing claim potentials in close coordination with the relevant work package holder.
6. Ensure all site-related commercial aspects of changes, deviations, and claims are documented in PIRS in close cooperation with the technical, project, and procurement staff.
7. Participate in regular site meetings with the project team, subcontractors, consortium, and client, verifying respective minutes of meetings.
8. Ensure that all necessary contractual correspondence is acted upon to protect HZI's contractual position.
9. Ensure correct administration of payment procedures in accordance with contract and legislation, issuing respective documents correctly and on time.
10. Together with relevant technical or project personnel, participate in commercial negotiations to reach agreements with subcontractors for allocated packages.
11. Resolve, propose solutions for, or escalate site commercial issues.
12. Support the Project Director and Contract Manager Execution in client-related commercial issues and alert them in relation to site issues that might impact the contract with the client.
13. Maintain subcontract cost reports for subcontract site packages and present/report to senior management.
14. Confirm site contractors' compliance with insurance and securities provisions during the execution phase.
15. Inform the Commercial Manager Execution and Site Manager regularly on commercial risks and opportunities.
16. Establish documentation for insurance purposes and support the Contract Manager in providing supporting information to the insurers in the event of a claim.
17. Establish a constructive relationship within the team, with other site personnel and subcontractors.
Professional Qualifications
1. Qualified Quantity Surveyor with >10 years experience.
2. Strong experience in major project delivery including the construction of industrial plants.
3. Proficient with standard form and bespoke contracts - NEC and FIDIC are an advantage.
4. Familiar with applicable HSEQ legal requirements.
