Assistant Management Accountant | Spire Fydle Coast Hospital | 12 month fixed term contract | Competitive Salary
Spire Fydle Coast is looking to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant to support the Finance Director with the preparation, delivery and analysis of key financial information enabling the hospital leadership team to make well informed decisions to ensure future stability, growth and profitability.
This will be for a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.
Duties and responsibilities
* To support the preparation and delivery of the monthly Profit and Loss Statement, including revenue reports, departmental cost data, profitability analysis and spend and variance analysis
* To support the delivery of the monthly forecast and annual budget with particular emphasis on hospital overheads and labour
* Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger for hospital overheads - to include complete and accurate month end accruals, prepayments and spend analysis
* Prepare monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations for sign off by the Finance and Commercial Manager
* Support the development and maintenance of theatre procedure costing
* Be the hospital process lead for charging, in essence this means becoming the charging expert and taking a lead role in driving excellence throughout the billing process.
* Call off daily and monthly reports relevant to the hospital billing process and action any queries or errors within appropriate timescales
* Accurately input labour KPI and payroll information, prepare month end payroll journal entries and deal with staff queries through effective liaison with the Payroll Department and Heads of Departments
* Support the quarterly and annual stock take process
* Manage the accounts payable process, including purchase invoices, consultant fees and patient refunds
* Manage all cashiering, banking and petty cash processes
* Review and take appropriate action for overdue vendor debt and liaise with the Finance and Commercial Manager for arrangements for collection
Who we're looking for
* Good communication skills - written, verbal and strong interpersonal
* Must be AAT qualified or equivalent
* The ability to understand and work with numbers is essential. A minimum of one year's accounting experience is sought
* Intermediate Excel skills is essential, for example, competent with pivot table, VLOOKUP's, and IF functions with the ability to design appropriately formatted tables, reports and charts
* Good organisational skills
* Inspire confidence, ability to influence others, challenge constructively and build strong working relationships
* Able to understand key business processes and complex business issues
* Role model high standards of personal integrity, display initiative and identify opportunities for personal development
* PC literate, able to adopt and contribute, where required, to the introduction and development of new systems
* Experience in healthcare or other customer orientated business is desirable
