Job Introduction
Data Lineage Engineer is a key role in our journey to becoming a data driven organisation.
Working within the UK Data Management function, the role holder is responsible for day to day running of the UK Bank's enterprise data management technology, which enables metadata extraction, data lineage, data quality profiling, semantic discovery, data analysis and integration solutions. The role holder will be key to the successful implementation and on-going technical support of the Bank's data management policies.
The role reports directly to the Data Technology Lead and is part of a small team of data analysts responsible for embedding technologies to support best practice data governance, metadata, data lineage and data quality across the Bank whilst also helping support the wider change initiatives.
Main Responsibilities
Position's primary focus will be:
1. Design, develop, and maintain metadata processing solutions using Ab Initio software, to support the Bank's data management policies and standards. Collaborate with business analysts and data architects to understand requirements. Translate business requirements into technical specifications. Develop and implement data integration solutions for metadata, data lineage and data quality.
2. Develop, maintain, and optimize metadata and data pipelines, to support periodic data quality monitoring solutions within the Bank's data management system (Ab Initio).
3. Providing advanced data analysis built on an Ab Initio graphical development environment for the creation of complex data processing to support the Bank's data lineage and data quality control requirements.
4. Perform data analysis, to identify, collect and migrate data to and from a range of systems, to manipulate and link different data sets for the purpose of summarising and presenting data and recommendations in the most appropriate format for stakeholders.
5. Document data models at physical, logical and conceptual levels to support Bank-wide IT and analytics issue identification and development.
6. Analyse, document and resolve issues identified from data mapping and data conversions and manage the stakeholder engagement to resolve with both Business and IT SMEs.
7. Partner with IT and business to design and implement data quality solutions that adhere to the Bank's data principles and governance framework.
8. Support and influence the definition of clear goals to improve data collaboration, data quality, and reduce data architecture complexity and information security risks.
9. Be passionate about data quality and continuously strive to promote data quality through the development of system and process controls.
10. Analysing and assessing risks and impacts of solution options, performing cost-benefit analysis and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders to achieve an investment decision.

1. Demonstrate proficiency administering the following Ab Initio Products (Co>Op system, Express-it, Acquire>It, Control Center, Metadata Hub, Authentication Gateway).
2. Extensive SQL experience to source, analyse, normalise and process data for quality validations.
3. Experience using data visualisation tools to present complex analysis is essential e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Qlikview.
4. Experience working in data quality, data governance or data management or experience working as a Data Analyst or Data Engineer within a Financial Services environment.
5. Strong presentation skills both written and oral, experienced in presenting complex data concepts to a business audience i.e. running workshops and formal data governance meetings.
6. Knowledge and understanding of master data elements and processes, understanding of static versus transactional data challenges.
7. Experience creating and using data models and data definitions.
8. Experience of data modelling is ideal.
9. Understanding of information management practices including information lifecycle management, data modelling, master data management and carrying out data audits and requirements gathering.
10. Working knowledge of statutory frameworks such as CCPA, GDPR, BCBS and Data Protection Act.
11. Experience of leading projects and leading/influencing a diverse stakeholder group, including senior stakeholders.
