Job summary x2 full time positions and x1 part time (30hrs) position available An exciting opportunity has arisen for well-motivated, caring individuals to join our friendly team on Diabetes/Endocrinology ward, where you will assist the nursing staff in the delivery of the highest standard of nursing care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, supporting with clinical observations, blood glucose monitoring, venepuncture and cannulation. For this role it is essential that you have a good level of education and experience of working in an acute care setting. With effective communication/interpersonal, decision making and prioritising skills, you will be a good team worker with a sympathetic, approachable attitude and a genuine desire to care for patients.You will also have the ability to manage personal emotions and stress. Main duties of the job Healthcare assistants make sure the patient experience is as comfortable and stress-free as possible. You'll work under the guidance of a registered nurse. Under taking a variety of tasks such as: Basic clinical observations i.e. heart rate Blood glucose recordings Urinalysis testing Lying and standing blood pressure monitoring Fluid balance recording 25-point skin check Application of a dressing under the direction of, and specified by a registered nurse (exceptions are dressings to category 3 or 4 pressure ulcers, compression dressing, negative pressure vac dressings) Bladder scanning Removal of sutures Venepuncture Cannulation Self-retaining catheter (SRC) removal Electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring Performing dressing changes on PICC lines (applies only in areas with established PICC services where there is sufficient opportunity to maintain this skill) Taking of blood cultures (applies only in the Emergency Departmentwhere there is sufficient opportunity to maintain this skill) About us Please note that the Trust reserves the right to close a position early.
