About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate and skilledSEN English Teacherto join our team at aHospital Schoolin Chelsea. This part-time role (three days per week) offers the opportunity to teachGCSE and A-Level Englishto students who are continuing their education while receiving medical treatment. You will play a vital role in helping students overcome challenges, tailoring your teaching to their unique needs, and supporting their academic progress in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
This position is ideal for an experienced English teacher who has a background in working withspecial educational needs (SEN)and can confidently deliver the curriculum to students requiring additional care and flexibility in their education.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliverGCSE and A-Level English lessons, adapting content to suit the needs of students with SEN and medical conditions.
* Develop and implementIndividualized Education Plans (IEPs)to meet each student’s academic and personal goals.
* Provideone-on-one and small-group instruction, supporting students in staying on track with their studies and preparing for assessments.
* Collaborate closely with amultidisciplinary team, including healthcare professionals and teaching assistants, to address both educational and emotional needs.
* Monitor and document student progress, maintaining clear communication with parents and caregivers.
* Create aninclusive, supportive learning environment, encouraging student participation and fostering confidence.
* Guide students throughexam preparation, ensuring they are equipped with the tools and knowledge to succeed.
Essential Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)with experience teachingGCSE and A-Level English.
* Strong background in working withstudents with SEN, tailoring lessons to meet diverse needs.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building positive relationships with students and their families.
* Proven ability to adapt teaching strategies and resources to suit individual learning challenges.
* A compassionate, patient approach with a commitment to creating a supportive educational experience.
* Strong organizational skills for managing lesson plans, IEPs, and progress reports effectively.
Desirable Qualifications
* Previous experience in ahospital schoolor similar educational setting.
* Familiarity with teaching strategies for students withmedical needsand complex conditions.
* Knowledge ofspecialized assessment toolsused in SEN education.
