The role of the Senior Cyber Security Platform Engineer is to: Work within a small team to fully manage, maintain, and improve a unique set of IT Security products used by the Bank's Cyber Defence Centre, Insider Threat Management function and other technology teams to detect and respond to Cyber Attacks that could compromise our systems and data. These products include on premise SIEM (Security Information Event Management), NDR (Network Detection and Response), SOAR (Security Orchestration Automation and Response) and Endpoint Detection and Response (agent- based tool). The individual will be required to take a logical approach and conduct root cause analysis with service impacting issues. They will need to manage technical risks, vulnerabilities, incidents, changes, concessions and liaise with third party vendors and our customers. The role will involve collaborative working with colleagues to assist them in ensuring that system integration and consistent approaches are maintained. It also involves interaction with both technical and non -technical colleagues across the Bank, so a clear and appropriate communication style is important to ensure customer satisfaction for the services delivered. The jobholder will also maintain, develop, and improve the tools, processes, procedures, and documentation for which they are responsible, to meet changing business and team requirements. The role also includes using Dev Ops and scripting skills to automate processes. They must adhere to the organisation's policies, standards and guidelines when undertaking their work, planning, managing, and prioritising their workload as required. They will contribute to the wider function and Bank goals, targets, and objectives, ensuring that IT security activities comply with the Bank's risk appetite and risk management framework. Role requirements This role requires hands on experience as a Platform Support Engineer in operational security activities, as well as good interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to produce clear documentation and concise reporting. Experience in engaging with internal stakeholders will be vital, taking a service orientated and customer focused approach. The ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences, talk through technical details to both technical and non-technical people and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines. The role will require sound knowledge and experience of Cyber Security, technical infrastructure, security applications, tools as well as practical operational skills, ideally a self-starter. The individual will need to be a team player with the ability to manage workloads and prioritise. This is a critical role within the Cyber Division as the team are responsible for supporting, maintaining, and evolving several IT Security Platforms relied upon by the Bank's Cyber Defence Centre, Insider Threat Monitoring Team and other Cyber, Technology teams. There will also be a requirement for some out of hours work. Minimum (Essential) Criteria Experience of working in a Platform support engineering role over a reasonable period, preferably gained in an operational environment. Hands on experience in supporting IT Security technologies such as Endpoint Detection and Response and Network Detection and Response. This includes the application and Infrastructure. Network troubleshooting experience with Wintel and Linux Operating systems. Database troubleshooting experience with MS SQL and Oracle. Scripting knowledge using PowerShell, Perl, MS SQL, or Python. Experience with updating Digital Certificates. Solid understanding of network principles and protocols. A keen interest in Cyber Security, with the holding of relevant qualifications being a distinct advantage (e.g., CISSP, CCNA, Security, Windows Certifications, Cloud Security Certifications). Experience of working collaboratively within project teams, delivering to multiple customers. Ability to translate business requirements into functional product improvements, this includes production of both High Level and Low-Level Technical Designs. Maintain Operational Support Documentation such as Runbooks and Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery plans. Able to work as part of the team, and independently, adopting agile ways of working. Able to manage own workload within tight timescales to a successful outcome. Desirable Criteria - Experience in the following ITIL Foundation knowledge (Business as Usual- incidents, work requests and changes). Experience of working with SIEM technologies. Configuration experience using Dev Ops tools such as Ansible or ability to learn. Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recover execution. Experience of integrating third party management toolsets and emerging technologies. Demonstrate the ability to keep up to date with new technologies and the Cyber Threat Landscape. Salary and Benefits Information We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate. We offer a salary as follows: Leeds circa £53,900 - £62,190 London circa £59,905- £69,120 In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below: A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.
