Position: Senior Engine Test Technician
We seek an experienced Engine Test Technician to join our Propulsion Engine Test Centre team. The successful candidate will be responsible for running propulsion systems in a testbed environment, overseeing setup, configuration, and execution of both automated and manual testing sequences.
Key Responsibilities:
* Comply with all Health, Safety, and Quality procedures.
* Assist with unit palletization and installation, setting up instrumentation and configuring test cell automation systems.
* Validate engine operations and fluid/boost conditioning systems within the test cell.
* Collaborate with the team to run customer test requirements for specific development programs.
* Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, working with the Engineering team to implement solutions.
* Perform servicing and hardware changes as required.
* Operate the test cell using a mix of automated cycles and manual processes, progressing towards complex calibration tasks with engineering support.
* Ensure quality control and validate test data.
* Take ownership of equipment and hardware within the test cell.
* Maintain effective communication with staff, engineers, supervisors, and clients.
* Contribute to initiatives for reducing waste and improving efficiency.
Qualifications:
* Candidate should have City and Guilds, Full Apprenticeship, or ONC/HNC in Automotive Engineering.
* Strong automotive background, preferably in a test cell environment, but other automotive disciplines will be considered.
* Comprehensive understanding of engine fundamentals and related systems.
* Ability to work independently following the probationary period.
* Excellent teamwork and time management skills.
* Strong commitment to Health and Safety standards.
* High attention to detail and quality.
Preferred Experience:
* Proficiency in gasoline and diesel testing across diverse and complex environments.
* Familiarity with AVL and ETAS test bed equipment and automation systems.
* Experience with electrical wiring assemblies and automotive Lithium Ion batteries.
* Knowledge of high-voltage (up to 1000V DC) electrical connectivity techniques.
* Competence in test automation software (e.g., AVL PUMA, Horiba STARS) and analysis software (e.g., AVL Concerto).
