The Apprentice Student Operating Department Practitioner will attend clinical placements within the Trust and attend locally delivered Canterbury Christchurch University sessions to acquire the theoretical aspects of this degree. This degree course in Operating Department Practice is a registered professional qualification with the Health and Care Professionals Council and practitioners become Allied Health Professionals.
It is a requirement that following this supported programme that students will apply to work for the Trust for a minimum of two years to support future patient care delivery as an Operating Department Practitioner.
This fixed term post is to provide training for the post holder to undertake an Operating Department Practice Degree. This apprenticeship allows the student to work while they learn in the theatre environment. The successful applicants will have time allocated for service delivery.
