The job itself
To undertake, either individually or as part of a team, to remove all litter and detritus from streets, open spaces, and other associated land to a high standard. To work in accordance with pre-determined work schedules and standards determined by the Council.
A full driving licence is essential with the entitlement to drive 7.5 tonne vehicles (driving licence class C1).
To form part of a team of street cleansing operatives, or to work alone, to ensure ERYC’s towns, streets, and open spaces are cleaned to a high standard. Utilising a range of plant, tools, and equipment, e.g., street cleansing vehicles, brush, barrow, blower, and pedestrian-controlled mechanical sweeper.
Maintain and take responsibility for your equipment, which includes daily checks and cleaning your equipment when appropriate. Participate in the Council’s initiatives to improve the street scene environment, e.g., report environmental defects.
The ability to work on your own initiative, along with having good communication and customer care skills, are essential for this post.
The role is based at the Willerby depot, so good local knowledge would be useful.
