Job Title: Fire and Security Engineer Location: Swindon Salary: £32,000 - £38,000 per annum Job Type: Permanent About the Role: Our client is seeking a skilled and dedicated Fire and Security Engineer to join their team in Swindon. As part of a leading company within the Fire & Safety sector, the successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, servicing, and maintenance of a wide range of fire detection and alarm systems, intruder alarms, CCTV, access control systems, and emergency lighting, with a particular focus on providing high-quality service across all fire and security needs. Key Responsibilities: Install and commission a range of fire and security systems, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, CCTV, intruder alarms, and access control systems at commercial and residential properties. Perform thorough testing of systems and ensure they meet both client and regulatory specifications before final sign-off. Provide clear guidance on system operation and ensure clients are fully briefed on system functionality. Conduct regular planned maintenance, as well as reactive servicing, on all fire and security systems, including fire detection systems, CCTV systems, and access control systems. Carry out inspections on systems to identify and resolve issues proactively, ensuring minimal disruption to clients. Ensure that all service schedules are adhered to, in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Troubleshoot and repair faults within a range of fire and security systems, providing effective solutions with minimal impact on clients’ operations. Respond quickly to emergency service calls, particularly for fire alarm faults, intruder alarm issues, and CCTV system malfunctions, and ensure a fast resolution to maintain safety and security. Identify opportunities to enhance system reliability, performance, and safety through tailored recommendations. Provide ongoing support and training to clients on the use and upkeep of their fire and security systems, ensuring they remain compliant with fire safety regulations. Assist clients with system operation, maintenance queries, and troubleshooting, ensuring they feel confident in their systems' capabilities. Ensure that all installations, servicing, and maintenance work is carried out in compliance with relevant industry regulations and standards, including BS5839 (fire alarms), BS EN 50131 (intruder alarms), and BS 5266 (emergency lighting). Complete detailed reports on work completed, system performance, and any potential safety issues, ensuring full traceability for compliance audits. Ensure all documentation is clear, accurate, and up-to-date, and provide clients with service reports, maintenance logs, and safety compliance certificates. Provide on-site emergency support, ensuring systems are restored to full working order in a prompt and efficient manner. Complete risk assessments for each job and take necessary precautions to safeguard both the engineer and clients. Essential Skills & Experience: Proven experience in the installation, maintenance, and servicing of fire and security systems, such as fire alarms, emergency lighting, CCTV, access control systems, and intruder alarms. Strong understanding of industry standards and regulations, including BS5839 (fire alarms), BS EN 50131 (intruder alarms), and BS 5266 (emergency lighting). Excellent fault diagnosis skills with the ability to resolve technical issues efficiently. Full UK driving license, with the ability to travel to various client sites as required. Desirable Skills & Experience: Electrical experience relevant to fire and security systems (e.g., installation of electrical circuits for alarms, CCTV systems, and emergency lighting). Certifications in relevant fire and security qualifications such as City & Guilds Level 3, NICEIC, or FIA qualifications would be beneficial. Previous experience working with integrated security systems, including the combination of fire detection, CCTV, and access control.
