Hitachi Energy has an exciting new opportunity for a Principle Consultant, Power Systems. You’ll be responsible for the development of advisory projects for major electricity sector agents, including distribution, transmission, retailers, and generators, helping them deal with regulatory, economic, and electricity challenges. You will assist in building and retaining long-lasting relationships with internal and external customers to support profitable growth and ongoing satisfaction.
Please note this position is of a hybrid nature (2/3 days working out of our central Birmingham office). Please also note we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
How You’ll Make An Impact
* Identifying opportunities for new and repeating consulting business, building an internal and external network for the exchange of information.
* Creating added value for customers and the organization, ensuring the successful outcome of transactions, contracts, and proposals, using a series of sales techniques and negotiating tactics for leading sales activities.
* Proposing research & development projects including the scope of the budget, supporting the project management strategy including production, modularization, and following up on new products/solutions, including ongoing support with contract management activities.
* Conducting risk and opportunities assessments for various projects, ensuring delivery of assignments as per agreed contracts.
* Leading the creation of new process and tool enhancements following the study of advanced techniques and coaching subordinate colleagues.
Your Background
* Master’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical power systems, or similar is required.
* Advanced degrees preferred (Masters, PhD, MBA).
* Written and oral fluency in English.
* More than 10 years of experience in the design, understanding, and performance of power systems studies.
* Experience in the design, understanding, and performance of power systems studies with a consulting approach.
* Experience proposing solutions on BESS, FACTS, E-mobility, smart city, electrical transmission, and distribution planning.
* Power systems expertise, equipment knowledge, and elaboration of proposals on energy policy and regulation design.
* Management, leadership, and advising of private companies and public agencies in the fields of regulation, operation, and strategy in the energy sector at a national and international level.
* Developing strong customer and partner relationships, both external and internal. Commercial acumen with a proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to successfully persuade and influence senior management teams.
* Commercial skills, including pricing and negotiating.
* Knowledge in power systems analysis, as well as experience in software simulation tools such as PSS/E, DIgSILENT Power Factory, PSCAD, ETAP, and NEPLAN.
* Strong knowledge of the application of technical and business-related consulting for the power market and the impacts of products, equipment, and engineering concepts and practices as contributors to potential recommended solutions. Proven experience in creating opportunities in the market.
* Experience and knowledge of the electric power industry, market, systems, and equipment. Developing customer and partner relationships, both external and internal. Commercial acumen with a proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to successfully persuade and influence senior management teams.
* Analytical mindset and self-motivated, taking initiative to solve problems.
