While NS&I relies on and trusts its suppliers to provide the project execution capabilities, it is also building a design assurance function that will play a crucial role in providing confidence in the quality of deliverables. Enthusiastic about all aspects related to delivering a quality outcome, this role will play a critical role in realising the business and IT needs through assurance of IT low level design provided by suppliers in a disaggregated delivery model. The role will report into the Head of IT Solutions and the appointed person will work closely with the Transformation Programmes and BAU Portfolio, contributing directly to the efficiency and effectiveness of the enterprise. Job description This role will collaborate with enterprise architecture group for understanding high level designs and take the baton forward to govern & assure low level technical designs. This role will provide governance and assurance in multi-vendor engagement by aligning to the enterprise systems delivery assurance strategy among other associated enterprise standards and manage the system delivery supporting the program/project directions. Support the effective and efficient creation of designs Refine, setup and implement low level design assurance and review systems designs based on standard best practices. Create transparent guidelines for assurance of systems design and work with all suppliers for using these controls to provide effective governance. Working with Business Analysts, understand the project / program business requirements. Visualise bigger picture and view of end-to-end design to meet business needs within the context of a broader solution implementation. Review requirements and monitor change requests to ensure that the low-level solution design is fit for purpose. Identify / communicate any design deviations from standards and work with partners to create option paper and take up with different design authorities for approvals. Engage with several internal and suppliers stakeholders in the enterprise across business and IT. Design Assurance Enable design assurance services aligned to future operating model. Understand high level designs and work with NS&I Enterprise Architecture team. Create low level design assurance checklist and detailed template for providing assurance services. Work in multi-vendor environment to provide design assurance service on behalf of NS&I providing comprehensive reviews to cover areas such as compliances, security, NFR etc as part of partners design & delivery assurance. Review to ensure the low-level design produced by the partner technical teams to ensure alignment with the overall solution and covers all aspects of high-level design. Ensure the design mapping with the requirements for traceability. Ensure solutions align with strategic architecture principles and direction. Familiarity with any technical debt and review design to address these gaps. Management, co-ordination and other Run the System Delivery Assurance capability as part of IT Solutions Delivery Pillar in the appointed areas. Work in close partnership with cross-functional teams and management Determine process improvements, best practices and develop new ones as applicable. Regular design delivery reports & reviews with partners for design service Effective RAID management for the technical design This role may require some travel to other sites Person specification Essential qualifications Bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, computer engineering or similar field. Significant experience as a Solution Architect, IT or Technical Architect, IT role. Essential skills and experience In-depth knowledge of software applications, programming languages, and modern IT Infrastructure services, including networking, security, and storage solutions. Proven experience in designing and implementing complex IT solutions. Excellent presentation skills to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience with API design and integration principles to ensure smooth communication between various applications. Experience with IT security best practices and frameworks (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework) to safeguard customer data. Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and negotiate solutions. Essential technical knowledge Working experience in architect/designer/SME preferably with exposure to Banking and/or Payments areas Any of the following certification, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect Involved or led design management and assurance processes.
