We are seeking an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join our team, focusing on the professional building surveying of the council's temporary accommodation stock. In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day repairs, manage voids, ensure cyclical compliance and coordinate capital works and Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs). You will be responsible for ensuring projects are effectively procured and that they meet statutory and legislative requirements, delivering value for money and adhering to our internal governance policies and procedures. Our dynamic Housing Management Team provides an extensive and responsive property management service to homeless clients in temporary accommodation. Part of the Welfare and Housing Service, our team collaborates closely to achieve the best outcomes and deliver a comprehensive service to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. You will engage in varied and rewarding work every day, making a real difference in people’s lives. Key responsibilities You will lead the preparation of specifications and contract conditions for tendering works. This includes coordinating with our main term contractor and service contractor for repairs and specialist projects. You will inspect and assess repair requests, such as damp and mould, providing technical advice on solutions. You will also conduct property inspections to determine when components need replacement and advise regarding inclusion of works within Planned Maintenance Programmes. You will undertake inspections relating to health and safety issues, noting any deviation from regulatory or legislative requirements or construction standards. You will manage and monitor contractors and consultants, addressing any issues independently when standards are not met. You will provide technical approval for Disabled Facility Grant applications and oversee the associated works, including progress and final inspections.
