Job Description
Placement Services in Moray has responsibility for Fostering, Adoption, Kinship Care, Throughcare/Aftercare and Supported Lodgings services. This post is based in the Children and Young People's part of the service.
Working under the direction of the Senior Social Worker to offer specific assistance to Carers who offer alternative family placements and to support colleagues in Placement Services by engaging with other young people as deemed appropriate.
Responsibilities
1. To provide direct support to Carers in their own home and other relevant settings as directed by the Senior Social Worker.
2. To work directly with children of all ages as requested.
3. Undertake relevant, practical and administrative tasks related to the provision of the service.
4. Undertake and engage in training and networking.
5. Work effectively as a member of a small team.
The Individual
1. Direct personal experience of child care and/or working with children/young people in other settings.
2. Literacy and numeracy skills to record cash transactions and data.
3. A willingness to undertake specific training.
4. Able to work independently.
5. Proven communication skills both written and oral.
6. Adaptable to meet the needs and demands of the service.
7. Able to form productive working relationships with the team and carers.
8. Able to engage with children and young people.
9. Able to record information accurately using computerized systems.
10. Self-confident and self-motivated.
11. Effective organization and time management skills.
12. You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray, this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.
13. Able to assess situations and take appropriate action in consultation with supervising social workers.
14. Able to communicate clearly and engender confidence in carers/children.
15. Able to handle stressful situations.
16. Able to contribute to the development of the service.
17. Appreciation, acceptance of, and a commitment to the importance of confidentiality.
18. Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to service development.
19. Willingness to accept direction/delegation.
20. Able to lift/carry heavy or bulky objects in accordance with the moving and handling regulations.

23. Able to work in different offices and within carers' homes dependent on the needs of the service.

Starting salary: £25,692 (pro-rata)
