Job Title: Electrician
Reporting to: Electrical Supervisor
Depot: Newton Aycliffe, Co Durham
THE ROLE
You will work on the electrical elements of Traffic Signs, Street Lighting and Technology Installation works making sure the quality of the works meets the latest IEE Regulations, customer’s specification, and requirements.
A typical week might involve:
1. SWA electrical terminations into lighting columns and feeder pillars
2. Installation of secondary isolators into lighting columns
3. Wiring and installing lanterns
4. Testing & inspecting on street furniture and the completion of test certificates
5. Fault finding
6. Electrical surveys
7. Cable pulling
8. Cable jointing
9. Working from MEWPS
10. Assisting within the operational logistics of driving vehicles
11. Liaising with clients and MSF personnel on site
12. Carrying out a Risk Assessment prior to the commencement of any work activity
13. Ensure all installations are completed to the correct standard, delivered on time and to budget.
14. Completing relevant documentation, paperwork and raising on-site issues
15. Being part of an on-call rota for emergency electrical call outs
16. Maintain a high level of health and safety as per company policies/procedures
17. Ensure all works are completed as per MSF QEHS policies and procedures
18. Report and QEHS issues to supervisor and via Eyes and Ears App
Essential to the role:
1. You will make full use of all Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E) including flame proof overalls, hard hats, task gloves, goggles, ear defenders and boots at all appropriate times
2. Checking that your company vehicle is fully maintained and kept in a roadworthy condition and to report all faults and defects to the immediate Supervisor. Ensuring all the working areas of the vehicle are kept clean and tidy, and to ensure that all tools and plant allocated to the vehicle are maintained
3. Protecting the security of Company information and property (from both theft and damage)
4. Minimizing Third Party claims i.e., Public Liability and Customer Complaints
5. Ensuring that a safe working environment is always maintained along with good housekeeping

1. Comfortable working outside in a physically demanding role and sometimes working alone
2. An Experienced Electrical Operative (experience in Street Furniture is an advantage)
3. A good communicator
4. Comfortable working night shifts and away from home if required
5. Committed to all installations being completed to the correct standards, delivered on time and to budget
6. Prepared to positively participate in all training relevant to your role
7. Committed to a high level of health and safety as per company policies/procedures
8. Committed to ensuring all works are completed as per MSF HSEQ policies and procedure and to reporting any HSEQ issues to supervisor and via Eyes and Ears App
It is imperative that you are committed to health and safety practices and ensuring that Employee and Public safety is protected and always maintained.
Qualifications:
1. CSCS/ CPCS, ECS cards
2. Street works, IPAF
3. G39
4. City & Guilds/ NVQ or equivalent in electrical installations
5. Inspection and testing
6. Full UK driving licence
7. Electrical Street Lighting experience is desirable
