Job Description HS2 is Britain's new high-speed railway connecting London and Birmingham. It is the first new intercity railway to be built north of London in more than a century. We currently have one opportunity for a Railway Business Asset management graduate available, supporting the Commercial Operations and Customer team, within the Operations & Maintenance department. This two year rotational programme will be based at our Podium Office in London and will provide you with the opportunity to learn, grow and develop. This role offers the chance to attend events and participate in activities at other HS2 offices/sites and therefore some travel will be required. The Operations & Maintenance department will be the future operator of the railway. This means that we lead the programme of work to create the capabilities and processes to run the railway and gain the license to operate the infrastructure, while supporting the HS2 Programme, project managers and engineers to ensure the requirements within the operational concepts are realised. Dependant on business requirements, your rotations may include placements with the following teams within the Operations & Maintenance team: Infrastructure Manager Operations. Responsiblefor developing the arrangements to safely operate the railway in a truly integrated way. Including: defining how we will operate the railway utilising train command, control and traffic management systems in the Network Integrated Control Centre (NICC), influencing the design of stations, developing training and processes for staff to demonstrate competence, ensuring the delivery of the rolling stock and depots meets operational needs, developing and planning the operational timetable, development of operational rules, standards and procedures, and planning exercises to ensure the railway is ready to operate. Infrastructure Maintenance and Asset Management. Responsiblefor developing arrangements to safely maintain assets on the railway and in stations, ensuring the railway can be maintained to provide optimum levels of availability and reliability. This includes managing contracts, development of engineering standards, procurement of on track machines and managing the information being delivered from building the assets, setting up systems to manage this information and establishing data analytics to understand the data and bring it to life. Commercial Operations & Customer. Responsible for building the commercial structure for the operation of the railway, including the commercial arrangements with the future train operator, train maintainer, other infrastructure managers and future adverting and retail opportunities. Operations Strategy & Programme Management. This team lead on the development of the Operations & Maintenance strategy by setting objectives and scope, making decisions on optimal solutions for future railway operations and managing stakeholders to secure a strategy that delivers the benefits and long-term value of HS2. Ergonomics. This team use information about human abilities, attributes and limitations, and apply methods and techniques to investigate and predict people's behaviour, in turn this will help us to design a railway and an operating organisation that maximises the safety, performance, efficiency, and reliability of the HS2 network. Skills: Ability to build effective and collaborative working relationships within multidisciplinary teams and with a variety of stakeholders Ability to compile, assess and analyse information, data and reports Planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and deliver day to day tasks to agreed deadlines and agreed standards Ability to communicate effectively using a range of mediums, including presentations Ability to evaluate complex issues and problem solve Knowledge: On track to achieve or already hold a minimum of a 2:2 bachelor's degree (or non-UK equivalent) in Business Management, Economics, Mathematics & Statistics, Transport Planning, Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management Knowledge of IT software such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint (or equivalent) Does HS2 offer sponsorship if I do not have the Right to Work in the UK?
