Job overview
This is a London Borough of Havering position - full time 36 hours per week.
To supervise the Support, Time and Recovery (STR) and Peer support workers (PSW) Team.
To focus on the direct needs of service users.
To work across boundaries of care.
To provide support, give time and thus promote recovery to clients with more complex needs.
We are looking for a flexible and dynamic individual who enjoys working in a multi-disciplinary team and has the capability to work independently in the community. We would like someone who has experience of working in a community setting, who has worked independently with adult Mental Health clients.
Main duties of the job
1. To supervise, as directed by the Social Inclusion and Resources Manager, the Support, Time and Recovery Team and Peer support workers.
2. To be responsible for a small caseload of service users and establish supportive and empowering relationships with the service user and carer.
3. To work in isolated situations with service users who may be vulnerable or at risk and to support team members to do the same.
4. To liaise with other agencies and any other relevant professionals, and to direct STR/PS Workers in doing so.
5. To monitor changes, both positive and negative, within the lives of those who receive services from the STR/Peer support Team and notify the Support Services Manager.
6. To take appropriate action in cases of emergency, and to offer direction to STR and Peer support worker Team in consultation with the Support Services Manager.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Contribute to the delivery of an effective Adult mental health MDT service as part of a social care service. Improving outcomes for People and Carers.
2. Carry out high quality holistic assessments, using strengths based, person-centred, community focused, and multi-agency interventions.
3. Understand the legal and statutory duties of the post as required by the Care Act.
4. Provide a person-centred service which focuses on asset-based interventions.
5. Support people to maintain their independence within their homes.
6. Assess and evaluate risk in partnership with service users, carers, and the wider MDT.
Person specification
Essential criteria
* Experience of supervising staff
* Experience of working with adult mental health clients in a community setting
* GCSE Maths and English minimum grade 4 or equivalent
* Good time keeping and excellent organisational skills
* Experience of liaising with multi-disciplinary teams
