Passenger Transport Services (PTS) Coventry is responsible for delivering transport services to approximately 1200 SEN children and adult passengers daily.
As a result, our passengers are able to access and take part in the following wide range of services and activities:
1. Social care transport for adults with learning difficulties and older people to day care and/or learning opportunities.
2. Education and learning, home to school transport for children and young people with special educational needs and/or physical and/or sensory impairments.
3. Transport to school, contact or medical appointments for children who are looked after by the authority.
4. Health-related services including the provision of clean linen to residential homes and people cared for in their own homes.
5. Employment-related services.
PTS employs approximately 180 drivers and passenger assistants and operates a fleet of over 80 passenger-carrying vehicles.

What is the job role? This is a fast-paced service that provides transport for SEN children, young people, and older members of the community. Therefore, this pivotal role is to support the successful delivery of Passenger Transport Services by ensuring the provision of an excellent and ‘customer-focused’ service to all stakeholders, which reflects the vision, values, aims, and objectives of Coventry City Council and its partners.
Working with an experienced team of Coordinators and Supervisors across a two-week shift pattern from 6.45am - 6.30 pm, you will be engaging children, young people, parents/carers, and schools daily in an ever-changing, challenging but rewarding role that includes:
1. Providing 'on-site' supervision and deployment of all operational staff and vehicles.
2. Maintaining all administrative processes and procedures ensuring all information recorded and/or obtained is clear and accurate at all times.
3. Operation of vehicles, escort duties, and/or ancillary duties in relation to the delivery of Passenger Transport Services.
4. Deputising for the Passenger Transport Supervisor as and when required and on appropriate issues.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such, appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Who are we looking for? You will be experienced at working within a busy, diverse customer-facing service with a calm, solution-focused approach. You will have an understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, and quality control and compliance. You will have experience of supervising people.
You will have the ability to respond to complaints and queries in a sensitive, empathetic manner and offer support to various stakeholders. Therefore, skills and traits such as being motivated, a multi-tasker, flexible, organised, IT competent, a team player, and a can-do problem solver will stand you in good stead for this role.
