• Highly successful practice with long serving members of staff and state-of-the-art equipment including digital x-ray, ultrasound, and endoscopy equipment
• Generous salary up to £60,000

We are thrilled to present an exceptional opportunity for a mixed or farm animal veterinary surgeon to join a long-established, independent mixed animal practice in a picturesque market town in Derbyshire. This practice, deeply rooted in the heart of the local community, has been a trusted provider of professional veterinary services across the Peak District for generations. With a team of vets offering a breadth of expertise, the practice is committed to delivering the highest standard of care for animals, both large and small.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated veterinary surgeon, ideally with some experience, to join this close-knit team. The role involves either farm animal work or a mix of farm and small animal responsibilities. For farm animal work, you will provide routine veterinary services to a diverse client base, including:
1. Fertility work
2. TB testing (non-DEFRA)
3. Herd health planning
4. Health schemes
5. Treatment of sick animals
6. Obstetrics
Small animal duties will include first-opinion consultations and surgery days in a modern, well-equipped clinic.
The practice operates from a main facility housing a first-opinion small animal clinic and farm animal office, supported by seven vets, with a separate equine branch run by three equine-focused vets. The farm animal service is ambulatory, catering to traditional family farms across the Peak District, including a mix of dairy clients, beef and sheep farms, and smallholders. With a nearly century-long relationship with many clients, the practice maintains a strong community presence.
For small animals, the clinic features digital x-ray, ultrasound, and endoscopy equipment, offering a wide spectrum of diagnostic and surgical procedures in a recently refurbished setting. Independence is at the core of the practice, allowing clinical freedom to explore and develop areas of interest with the support of an experienced and collaborative team.
Situated in the heart of the Peak District, between Sheffield and Manchester, the location offers both rural charm and accessibility. The ideal candidate will have clinical experience, confidence in day one competencies, and a desire to embrace a long-term lifestyle role within a rural community. With a stable and supportive team-many of whom have been with the practice for decades-this is an opportunity to join a family-like environment dedicated to high-quality care and community involvement.
If you are excited by the prospect of working for one of the few remaining independent practices in the region and wish to become part of a vibrant, supportive team, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch to explore this opportunity further.
