DSN is a modern, dynamic charity providing a wide range of support services to deaf people across Cheshire and the surrounding area.
We are delighted to have been awarded a National Lottery Community Fund grant to continue and develop our successful youth offer programme across Cheshire West and Chester, Cheshire East and Warrington.
We are looking to recruit a Youth Worker to work alongside our Senior Practitioner and team of sessional Youth Support Workers on this programme. The core delivery areas for young deaf people will be youth sessions, holiday activities, youth council sessions and young leaders’ programme for 8 – 18-year-olds, and as part of this project we will also be able to offer sessions to our older groups – those aged 19 – 25.
Our Youth Worker will have experience in
• Working with young people
• Running sessions and activities
• Working as part of a team
And we need someone who
• has great communication skills
• is approachable and professional
• can work independently in a demanding and rewarding role.
This role will include ensuring that the needs of deaf young people are at the heart of the project, and that young people experience positive differences and outcomes, including increased confidence and independence. The job is for a 3-year fixed term with travel across Cheshire West and Chester, Cheshire East and Warrington so the use of a car is essential.
There will be some evening and weekend work required and as many activities will take place during school holidays it is important to recognise that these will be busy periods.
