Do you have 5+ years of bid management experience within the healthcare sector?
Our client is a leading provider of NHS Primary Care and Urgent Care services across the South of England. They are seeking to strengthen their team by hiring a Head of Business Development who will play a key role within the Commercial Directorate.
The successful candidate will be crucial in driving the growth strategy, supporting formal procurement processes, identifying proactive opportunities, writing business cases, and uncovering new marketing opportunities that align with the company’s broader objectives.
Responsibilities:
* To lead and co-ordinate multi-million-pound bid submissions, ensuring that the commercial team maintain control and ownership of all bidding opportunities
* To be accountable for bid and proposal responses to be appropriately responded to on time
* To provide Executive and Board level assurance of the forthcoming pipeline and live tenders/ proposals
* To understand Procurement policies/frameworks, including the Provider Selection Regime, the impact on the organisation, and to support the development of a self- assessment and output required
* To create a bid narrative with SME support ensuring that the bid reads as one, and meets the service specification and the vision is understood amongst the teams
* Lead on proposal strategy, and ensure each bid undertakes the correct process to ensure an audit trail
* Lead service design workshops ensuring models developed meet the commissioner requirements
* To work closely with the Head of Commercial Modelling to ensure that the commercial offer reflects the bid/proposal and has a clear strategy, including risks and reward
* Presentation of relevant bid and proposal information to SMEs and senior leaders within the organisation
* Review bid processes on a regular basis and improve as required, as well as stock answers, ensuring the bid library is regularly updated
* Ensure the team is fit for purpose for the forthcoming pipeline, bid libraries are up to date and the ability to flex resource as and when required
* Attend bidder interviews and events, presenting the service in a professional and compelling way
* Support tender and business case writing to ensure operational and clinical deliverability is credible, meets the commissioner requirements and is financially viable
* Support the creation of commercial offers to commissioners, which are deliverable and scalable
* For all won services, ensuring the bid promises are documented and handed over to ensure these are mobilised and delivered as planned within the bid
Requirements:
* 5 years + of multi million-pound successful bid development and management
* NHS / Healthcare market experience
* Educated to degree level or equivalent (inc. APMP qualification)
* Awareness and understanding of commissioning processes and landscape
* Experience of working at a senior and influential level with stakeholders
* Excellent written English and presentation skills and experience of presenting compelling business cases to senior internal and external stakeholders
* Ability to work credibly with senior managers and form strong personal relationships, both internally and externally
