Primary purpose of the position: Performs mechanical and engineering tasks to provide effective services to support the plant’s production goals, overall business plans and objectives as directed.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Pneumatics and hydraulic experience is essential.
* Surface grinding experience is preferable.
* Good computer literacy skills.
* Good communication and organisational skills.
* Troubleshooting skills/experience.
* Experience working in an engineering fast-paced manufacturing environment.
* Analytical skills to interpret numerical data and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to understand and adhere to operating principles of all assigned equipment and products.
* Ability to identify product defects.
* Ability to use hand and power tools.
* Working knowledge of machine mechanics.
* Displays behaviours in line with Ball core values.
Essential Responsible Areas:
* Complies and maintains established safe working practices, policies, and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives.
* Supports and adheres to the guidelines of the food safety system.
* Performs duties as required to ensure compliance with the plant’s quality standards.
* Performs various manual or mechanical production tasks by operating, adjusting, and repairing production equipment to meet customer specifications.
* Disassembles, overhauls, and rebuilds production equipment.
* Performs troubleshooting on production equipment as required.
* Performs preventative maintenance on production equipment as required.
* Inputs real-time data on a computer terminal.
* Conducts inspection of in-process or finished product to meet customer specifications.
* Initiates, reviews and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for area of responsibility.
* Supplies and maintains required hand tools.
* Communicates effectively with management and colleagues, reporting quality defects, unsafe conditions, and manufacturing difficulties.
* Promotes improvements and preventative actions by involvement in continuous improvement activities.
* Maintains housekeeping standards to a safe and satisfactory condition.
* Supports in other positions within or below your pay grade, to support business needs on an ad hoc basis.
Professional & Education Qualification:
* Preferably a manufacturing background in a high speed, high volume continuous process or similar experience.
* An apprenticeship or relevant qualification in an Engineering / Mechanical discipline.
Skills:
* Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
* Ability to operate fork truck if required.
* Possesses an interest in and an aptitude for mechanics.
* Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
* Mechanical Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
* Experience of preventative and planned maintenance.
* The ability to assist with breakdowns and line conversions.
* Sound communication skills, ability to clearly explain processes.
* Fluency in written and spoken English.
Salary per annum: Starter rate, £52,181.82; Improver rate, £55,080.79; Fully trained rate £57,979.83.
