The global racing enterprise boasts over 250 race wins, four INDYCAR Series championships, five INDY NXT titles, one Indy Pro 2000 and one USF2000 championship, and has captured victory five times at the famed Indianapolis 500-Mile Race. The team is now looking to expand into the pinnacle of motorsport through our Andretti Cadillac Team.
Job description:
We have an opportunity for a Lead Composite Designer to join the Andretti Cadillac Team at the new Silverstone Facility. In this role you will be leading the design of composite components and all associated tooling in either the Wings, Bodywork, or Chassis Teams. Principal Accountabilities
1. Provide engineering solutions by developing layouts and schemes for major composite assemblies, ensuring optimal design and functionality.
2. Take ownership of all composite projects run by your group, highlighting risks and opportunities to the Head of Composites.
3. Creation of CAD models and drawings for analysis and detail design.
4. Support your group to provide complete information for composite production processes, including materials, techniques, and quality standards.
5. Provide guidance and supervision to composite designers in your group, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high-quality work.
Minimum Requirements
1. A degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering) or similar.
2. Has a minimum 8 years relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within the motorsport industry.
3. Proficiency in CAD software, preferably CATIA 3DX, with a proven track record of producing accurate and efficient designs.
4. Extensive knowledge of composite component design.
5. Knowledge of composite materials and their properties.
6. Knowledge or experience of composites manufacture.
7. Ability to plan and manage your group’s workloads.
8. Ability to line manage / lead teams effectively.
9. Clear and concise communication, verbally and with the use of email.
10. Ability to prioritize in a time pressured environment and manage personal deadlines.
11. Self-motivated, innovative, and comfortable working independently, while meeting challenging deadlines.
12. Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint etc.).
13. Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture.
