Operations and Digitalisation Manager
Location: BENELUX/GERMANY
Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week, 08:00-17:00
About the position:
The Operations & Digitalisation Manager plays an important and integral part of the contracts logistics operation. They will help process the smooth and efficient flow of goods warehoused in 4PL facilities in Europe and onward to end destination.
They will be part of an operational team delivering a professional and high standard of service in line with internal and external customer requirements. It will involve multiple methods of effective communication where accuracy and expediency is imperative. The team member will provide excellent customer service to key stakeholders in service of and within the customers’ business. They will liaise directly with the customer ,3PL suppliers and internal management.
Responsible for implementing new clients and suppliers on our standard SOPs within Europe primarily in NL as well as creates new solutions for existing customers to improve communication and dataflow amongst all parties will be a fundamental part of this roll.
To achieve this, the Operations & Digitalisation Manager needs to support and develop the Warehouse management solutions within all our Warehouses as well as train the staff, both externally and internally on the system functionality. Furthermore, this roll will further develop the way the Control Tower is currently working with IT and processes today.
Key objectives are to constantly refine the Control Tower day to day work as efficiently and as digitally as possible to avoid additional linear headcount growth whilst delivering volume growth.
The position will also rollout the IT & processes within the other HWL departments (DE Direct Load, sea freight etc) to improve internal communication whilst also researching and assessing new technology to increase efficiencies within all aspect of the renewable end to end supply chain.
They will support with additional requests and resolve queries swiftly and with clarity. This key team member will be responsible for collating and inputting data on a daily basis from various sources which help to build key reports and KPI’s for reporting to senior management and the client.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities will include:
* Investigating customer queries in relation to missing pallet/items on shipments
* Day to day contact and management of 3PL’s, providing warehousing services
* Preparing regular reports for the customer as required
* Supporting with additional requests from the customer as required
* Collating and inputting data from various sources which help to build key reports and KPI’s for reporting to senior management
* Ensuring all daily reporting tools are rigorously maintained so that correct information is presented to the customer
* To maintain vigilance regarding procedural compliance (customs and local legislation)
* Proactively manage H&S aspects within the workplace
* Any other reasonable request allocated by their line manager
* Implementing SOPs within the different 3PL warehouse providers
* Implementing new IT solutions within the Control tower as well as the 3PL environment (increasing efficiency )
* Training people internally and externally on the new systems
* Finding and evaluating new Warehouse providers.
* Annual audits of outsourced 3PL warehouse operations
* Random checks on security systems and reaction times
* Market evaluation on new technologies to optimize the overall supply chain processes.
* Supporting sales gaining new clients for the control tower.
* Supporting our FTL department finding new partners for Europe as well as the US to utilize the control tower software globally.
* Increase efficiency within the different departments along our supply chain of our clients by using existing and new technologies to drive speed within our data flow
* Manage the development and implementation of a Warehouse Management System (HRL Scan)
* Liaise with the WMS programmer on functional changes and new customer requirements
* Perform. manage and supervise customer stock checks across multiple warehousing locations with customers.
* Plan and execute layout changes in warehouses to optimize space and operational efficiency.
* Organize rework projects for external teams, including logistics for transport, catering, and materials.
* Lead customer projects for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) integration with customers.
* Facilitate annual internal review meetings and lead process optimization initiatives for continuous improvement.
* Implement process changes within a diverse, multi-national, and cross-functional team.
* Act as an escalation point for Control Tower clients, ensuring timely and efficient issue resolution.
* Organize and lead monthly customer meetings to enhance service quality and strengthen client relationships
* Manage the onboarding process of clients, including initial contractual discussions and coordinating with relevant departments.
* Develop and provided additional warehousing, Value-Added Services (VAS), and transportation quotes tailored to client needs.
* Liaise with all stakeholders (RTM Customs, RTM Sea Freight & 3 PLS)
* Scout and evaluate new warehousing facilities to support new projects and business expansion
About you:
The ideal candidate will be educated in Maths and English (oral and written) to GCSE, Standard Grade or equivalent; grade A-C and be able to demonstrate highly competent computer skills in all areas of Microsoft office.

Salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
