The ICON Pod within (European) Fund Administration, is responsible for the implementation, configuration, and support of the vendor application ICON, and the small to medium size scripts and applications which surround/complement it. Together, these components make up the ICON IT service which supports the European Fund Administration business.
ICON has been installed at HSBC for 20+ years, it runs on on-prem Red Hat Linux servers and was recently upgraded to a version that utilizes an Oracle database. The pod is looking for an additional, experienced technologist to join the existing team to develop, maintain and support the platform.
In this role you will:
• Implement software upgrades as provided by the vendor.
• Develop new and maintain existing small to medium size scripts and applications.
• Keep the service compliant with compliance, audit, security etc. requirements, including, but not limited to regular server patching and carrying out DR/failover and backup and recovery tests.
• Work on service sustainability projects (hardware and OS upgrades).
• Provide production support across the service, taking turns on a 24*7 support rota.
• Perform releases and upgrades at weekends during the service’s maintenance window.
• Maintain service documentation.
• Be prepared to work on other IT deliveries across the Global Fund Administration ecosystem.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
• Experienced using Unix, including scripting.
• Proven experience with vendor application implementations.
• Experience of working with applications that utilize Oracle.
• Production support/troubleshooting experience (working alongside specialist teams of Unix SA’s and Oracle DBA’s).
• Have worked in a DevOps environment.
• Java server-side programming – be able to carry out upgrades to existing applications.
This role is based in Sheffield and offers hybrid working.
