About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will oversee the timely and accurate processing of monthly payroll for circa 450 employees across various divisions. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with UK tax legislation and company policies to accurately process the monthly payroll. You will also manage holiday allowances, pension schemes, and provide exceptional support to employees regarding payroll-related enquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Payroll Processing: Oversee monthly payroll for all employees, including starters, leavers, and changes within the pay period. Ensure accurate calculation and processing of variable payments and deductions (e.g., bonuses, overtime, allowances).
2. Pension and Benefits Management: Manage payrolling on benefits in kind and accurately manage the pay variable payments for all employees. You will also ensure accurate Group Personal Pension scheme calculations and monthly payments to the pension provider. Manage pension re-enrolment in line with UK auto-enrolment legislation.
3. Holiday Management: Manage holiday software (Leave Dates), ensuring correct allowances for new starters and accrued holiday payments for leavers.
4. Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with UK tax legislation, prepare and submit tax information to HMRC, and collaborate in internal and external audits of payroll processes.
5. System and Process Improvements: Identify opportunities to streamline and improve payroll processes, maintaining payroll systems and software.
6. Employee Support: Respond to payroll-related enquiries from employees, handling confidential information with discretion.
7. Audit and Reconciliation: Conduct periodic audits to ensure payroll data accuracy, reconcile payroll data with general ledger accounts, and maintain organised payroll files for compliance and auditing purposes.
Minimum Requirements:
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in payroll processing.
* Experience with multi-departmental payroll processing for a workforce of over 450+ employees.
* Proficiency in payroll software, specifically Sage 50 Payroll.
