SEMH Teaching Assistant – York Support Students, Change Lives Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join one of our partner schools in York. If you’re passionate about helping young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs thrive in education, we’d love to hear from you The Role Position : SEMH Teaching Assistant Location : York Start Date : Immediate or as soon as possible Contract : Full-time, long-term with the potential for a permanent role Responsibilities Work closely with students aged 11–16 with SEMH needs, providing tailored support in both group and 1:1 settings. Assist in managing challenging behaviours and implementing behaviour support strategies. Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Promote the emotional well-being and academic progress of all students. What We’re Looking For Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH needs, is desirable. A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with vulnerable students. Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
