Our Study Coaches offer one-to-one and small group support to students from across our range of courses. Study coaches work with students outside of lesson times on areas such as:
* English
* Maths
* Assignments/Coursework
* Study Skills
* Using Assistive Software
* Support with Specific Learning Difficulties
Study coaches can work with 16-18 and 19+ students on a varied range of courses, subjects, and levels. This can include supporting students studying:
* Underpinning English & Maths skills such as spelling or learning times tables.
* GCSE English & Maths with revision, practicing specific topics and preparation for exams.
* L1, L2 and L3 (including T Level) Vocational courses with assignments and coursework such as research, planning, proofreading, and time management.
* Foundation degree and degree level students with assignments and coursework such as understanding assignments, research, and referencing.
Study coaches are part of our SEND faculty. Study coaches' support is open to all of our students, and support is often accessed by neurodiverse students such as those with dyslexia, ADHD, ASD, etc. Some of these students may also have Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs). Being a study coach is a wonderful opportunity to help a wide range of students achieve success at the college!
Study coaches are based within our English and Maths Hub or library area, and students often drop in to make appointments or discuss the support they require. Study coaches will also liaise with colleagues such as SENCOs, course tutors, and student progress coaches for referrals and planning student support. The post also includes some administration such as recording students’ study coach sessions using the ProMonitor system, regular team meetings, and ongoing CPD.
In return, Abingdon & Witney College offers excellent benefits to our employees including generous pension and holiday schemes (with potential Christmas closure days), continued professional development, flexible working options, corporate gym membership, cycle/tech scheme, and much more.
