Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Vice President (VP) - Software Developer to join our team at a leading bank in the UK. This role is pivotal in driving the end-to-end change and automation processes across our software development lifecycle. The successful candidate will lead the automation of governance, guardrails, and code-level processes, reducing friction and improving efficiency in delivery. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to align technical initiatives with broader business goals, ensuring that all solutions meet the highest standards of quality and security.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Leadership:
1. Lead and manage engineering teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure software solutions.
2. Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure engineering teams excel in delivering innovative solutions.
3. Drive the automation of the software development lifecycle, including guard rails, governance, metadata acquisition, and architecture backups.
4. Implement end-to-end automation solutions, integrating test automation and connecting technical data with infrastructure automation.
5. Collaborate with other programmes to integrate and enhance tech data and infrastructure automation using tools like Ansible.
2. Strategic Planning and Execution:
1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, compliance, and product management, to align technical decisions with business objectives.
2. Develop strategies to automate and streamline the delivery process, reducing the time and effort required for the CAF process.
3. Drive the multiyear journey of transforming and automating end-to-end change processes within the organization.
3. Stakeholder Management:
1. Engage with key stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment of technical solutions with business needs.
2. Influence and guide strategic decisions, advocating for the technical roadmap and the adoption of automation technologies.
4. Risk and Compliance:
1. Ensure all software solutions comply with regulatory requirements and internal risk management policies.
2. Implement robust risk and control mechanisms to safeguard the integrity and security of the bank’s software systems.
5. Talent and Team Development:
1. Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the engineering teams.
2. Lead the development and retention of top technical talent, ensuring the team is equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to drive automation and innovation.

Mandatory Skills and Qualifications:
1. Technical Expertise:
1. Proven experience in software development, with a focus on automation, DevOps, and end-to-end change management.
2. Proficiency in Python (mandatory) and experience with Ansible (desirable).
3. Deep understanding of metadata acquisition, governance automation, and architecture backup processes.
