Overhead Line Project Manager

Our client is a leading consultancy who provide professional engineering and planning services to the power sector. They are instrumental in helping support the UK with its transition to net zero. They plan, design, and deliver major power projects that link the UK’s renewable power to its major towns and cities.
They specialise in the planning consents, design and survey of Overhead Lines, Underground Cables, and Substation Systems from LV to EHV in the UK and internationally playing a critical role in a countries major power infrastructure projects.
The role
We are looking for a Project Manager to lead multidisciplinary project teams in profitably delivering development and design projects. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the technical, contractual, financial and programme performance of these projects, all while providing outstanding customer service.
The position will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to join a growing team and benefit from gaining exposure to the engineering elements of the Development Consent Order process, progressing your career to Senior and then to Principal Project Manager as you build your skill level and expertise with lots of support.
The work will be office based with travel for meetings, workshops, and site visits (as required), up to 2/3 days per week.
* Lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary project team to deliver the scope of work on time and to budget (with profitable outcomes).
* Lead on H&S and CDM for projects.
* Look after the client’s needs.
* Manage the contract and variations. Minimise risk to the company by negotiating contract terms and conditions.
* Manage the invoicing process.
* Engage (via direct allocation or mini-competitive tender event) and manage subcontractors as required.
* Plan and lead the site visit and survey strategies.
* Prepare and manage the Project Programme(s).
* Develop new client relationships and opportunities.
* Lead new project tenders or quotes. Including the preparation of tender documents and costs and programmes.
The candidate
We are looking for an ambitious and dynamic individual with a passion for green energy.
* Suitable engineering or town planning related degree or equivalent.
* Minimum 3 years relevant transmission and distribution design or delivery project experience.
* Development Consent Order (or similar) or linear infrastructure planning experience desirable.
* OHL, cable, or substation design experience desirable.
* Professional chartership desirable.
* NEC contract knowledge desirable.
