Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer with expertise in designing adapter plates, hydraulic systems, and casting components for engines and transmission systems within the automotive domain, specifically in Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs). The ideal candidate will have strong experience with casting components such as cylinder heads, cylinder blocks, housings, and hydraulic integration within powertrain systems. This role involves cross-functional collaboration to ensure designs meet performance, manufacturability, and regulatory standards, particularly for hybrid and electric vehicle systems.
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
2. 5+ years of experience in design and development of adapter plates, hydraulic systems, and casting components for engine and transmission systems, with specific experience in the automotive PHEV domain.
3. Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX, or SolidWorks) for 3D modeling and design of both mechanical and hydraulic systems.
4. Solid understanding of hydraulic system design, casting processes, material properties, and thermal management for automotive components.
5. Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), CFD, and other simulation tools for design validation.
6. Familiarity with automotive design standards, GD&T, and quality control processes.
7. Excellent project management skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills:
1. Knowledge of electric vehicle architecture, PHEV powertrain design, and hydraulic integration in hybrid systems.
2. Experience with advanced materials and lightweighting strategies for automotive components.
3. Familiarity with DFMEA, DVP&R, root cause analysis, and fluid dynamics analysis methods for hydraulic systems.
