It should cover all aspects of a consultants professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education, and managerial responsibilities. It should provide a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external. In addition, it should include personal objectives, including details of their link to wider service objectives, and details of the support required by the consultant to fulfil the job plan and the objectives. On Call 1:8 on-call frequency supported by a team of four junior doctors during the day (FY1 + FY2 + 2x Registrar) and three at night (FY1 + FY2 + Registrar) All routine work is cancelled during this period. There is an emergency theatre available 24/7 with a separate trauma theatre for T&O. Office Accommodation and Secretarial Support A dedicated office space will be provided to the successful appointee and a Medical Secretary. Mentorship There is a mentorship scheme for all new consultant staff, this is designed to help and assist new appointees to settle into working at KGH as easily as possible. It is designed to assist individuals in a personal way to familiarise them with the Trust and how things work in practice.
