Job Title Data Analyst, Data Management (18 month Fixed Term Contract) Department Data Management-BG-UK Overview of Department The Data Management Department is made up of four areas and each of these areas advocates and encompasses our overall aim as a department which is to improve the management of data at Baillie Gifford by establishing and promoting a data governance framework, promoting high quality of internally created data, ensuring external data is received, cleansed and made available for use, vendor management and contract negotiation for data and associated software services. The four areas are : The Data Governance team assist in identifying the ownership and definition of data and provide support to different business areas in Baillie Gifford for data related issues. The External Data Delivery (EDD) team is concerned with the day-to-day distribution of third-party external data to downstream applications. The team ensure the data is complete, timely and accurate. The Reference Data team exist to meet the demand for accessing consistent, trusted reference data for use throughout the firm. The Data Vendor Management function exists to manage all interactions with third parties and ensure we maximise the value of the Data products we use. Purpose of Role We have an 18-month fixed term contract opportunity to support the operational changes and process improvements happening alongside the delivery of a strategic programme. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and work in alignment with data strategy initiatives across the firm. This position offers opportunities to engage with strategic initiatives and develop expertise in data management and governance. Responsibilities Serve as a Data Steward and Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Asset Data at BG and in the industry, managing data quality and addressing data challenges. Day to day operational management, ensuring KPIs and SLAs are met with third party supplier Drive and implement a day-to-day operational relationship, through regular interaction with key stakeholders across the Firm ensuring company data requirements are being met. Prepare detailed analysis and work with Manager to identify trends, drive change, take in new data points and to engage with relevant stakeholders to improve company data. Deal with requests from internal customers including data challenges, queries, and requests for changes to data. Working with colleagues in Data Management to ensure data is appropriately sourced, cleansed and governed. Reporting: Ensure visibility and transparency through relevant and appropriate reporting, data, and analysis. Governance compliance with data policies and frameworks. Communicate issues to internal stakeholders as required. Ensure high-quality data management that supports the firm's strategic objectives and enhances decision-making. Promote a culture of data excellence, education and continuous improvement in alignment with Baillie Gifford's values Your Knowledge and experience Knowledge and experience of Data Management is essential. Knowledge and experience of Investment Management is essential. Good communication and Stakeholder Management skills. IOC/IMC would be desirable. DAMA Qualification desirable. Although this is not a technical role, knowledge and understanding of systems and data tools is useful. This role involves overseeing company data reconciliation and collaborating with an ongoing project. Key responsibilities include tasks such as company set-up, exception resolution, and handling queries. This is a hybrid role with expectation of 4 days a week in our Edinburgh office.
