We are looking for a part-time Ukrainian Family Worker to join our Family Help Team. The role will be based in Wareham and will work across the Purbeck Locality, offered as a fixed-term position until the end of March 2026.
This is a wonderful opportunity to support adults and children arriving from Ukraine and staying with hosts in Dorset, ensuring our guests arrive safely and have all they need to settle into life in Dorset.
The postholder will undertake welfare checks as part of our duties to provide support to adults and children arriving from Ukraine, ensuring they are safe and well in their host families and are connected to the communities they live in (e.g., GP registration, early years provision, school places, positive activities). Welfare checks will be undertaken for both adults and adults travelling with children.
You will be working with a supportive team who have a wealth of knowledge and skills that you will be able to learn from. You will be part of our Pathfinder model, where we work in an integrated team alongside our social care colleagues. We need energetic and quick learners to join the existing teams. You will be supporting our Family Help team, which will involve direct work with children and their families; creating, supporting, and contributing to multi-agency plans and interventions to improve outcomes and life chances for children and young people in Dorset. You will get to work for a County Council that values career progression and gives staff opportunities to develop their careers.
The postholder may identify a need for ongoing early help and will undertake Child and Family Assessments and an early help plan with the family to ensure they receive the right help at the right time.
You will need to be a caring and considerate person who wants the very best for children, young people, and their families. You will be an excellent communicator, able to organise your time well, and willing to work around the needs of families.
This role will be responsible for the delivery of support to children, young people, and families in localities, taking a whole family approach.
