Job Title: Manufacturing Laboratory Technician
Working Pattern: Full Time
Working Location: Derby/Onsite 5 days
Work as part of a dedicated team delivering laboratory activity to support production of Turbine Blade manufacture, covering the entire casting, machining, and coating process. This role will be aligned to either the Precision Casting Facility (PCF), Turbine Blade Facility (TBF) or Precision Machining Facility (PMF) in Derby.
Responsibilities
You'll undertake laboratory tasks including the following:
* Lab testing of incoming raw materials, heat treatments, consumables, and chemicals.
* Control and develop the special processes required to support manufacture of components.
* Ensure compliance to all regulatory and internal processes and standards.
* Ensure the engineering specifications are satisfied for new part introduction and ongoing manufacture.
* Support the testing requirements for process improvement, zero defect and cost reduction programs.
* Lead investigation activity as required to resolve quality issues.

What you will be doing
* Microstructural evaluation and acceptance of test samples from Steel, Titanium & Nickel alloy components or test pieces at forging, heat treatment or post machining operations.
* Approve process data cards/procedures, process or stage drawings and Methods of Manufacture both for domestically manufactured parts and for parts manufactured in the external supply network.
* Ensure process compliance to National and International Standards through both the generation of shop floor instructions and participation in audit procedures. Interpret design and engineering requirements and ensure shop applications remain in compliance.
* Support the Product Control Authority (PCA) to approve method of manufacture changes.
* Play an active role in multi-function teams to advance specific processes and/or resolve manufacturing problems.

* Qualified to degree level in Materials Science, Metallurgy or an appropriate Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
* Working towards or have already achieved Chartered Engineer status (UK) or another national equivalent.
