Located just 11 miles south of Central London, the borough boasts exceptional transport links, with London Victoria, London Bridge, and the City all within a 16-minute rail journey.THE ROLE: Are you a talented and experienced Planning professional looking for a new challenge? An opportunity is available to join the Development Management team at the Council, to work on some of the most exciting strategic & major applications in the borough.As well as supervising a team of 3 Planning officers, you will have responsibility for your own caseload (including large scale major planning applications).Key elements of the role include:Pre application advice: Provision of planning advice on development proposals including those of a complex and controversial nature in accordance with adopted guidance.Planning Applications: Evaluating and negotiating your own caseload of applications, writing reports and making recommendations. Presenting a range of planning applications types to Planning CommitteeTeam Leadership: Monitoring and guiding planning case officers on their casework. Ensuring all staff benefit from an annual personal development review. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: You will have an RTPI accredited post graduate degree as well as a comprehensive understanding of current issues & developments affecting planning, regeneration & local government in London.Previous management experience is not essential but you must have a desire to develop and move into a managerial role.You must have experience working on strategic / major applications.
