We are excited to be recruiting for Teaching Assistants based at our purpose-built social, emotional, and mental health school in Hull. The school specializes in educating its pupils through bespoke individualised learning programmes, delivered using high-quality teaching and pastoral care. Pupils within Felix House present with an Educational Health Care Plan and need additional support surrounding Social Emotional Mental Health.
Wherever possible, we extend learning beyond the confines of the school and out into the community; collaboratively working with the children’s home, creating an environment of 24/7 learning.
The successful applicant will be an inspiring and motivating individual who can build positive working relationships with children and young people.
As a teaching assistant, you will support them with their social, emotional, and mental health needs. You will be creative and have high expectations of pupils' outcomes.
It is desirable for the candidate to have the following qualities:

Duties include:
* Set high expectations which inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils including the careful presentation of work and the care of books and equipment
* Support pupils with their learning under the direction of teachers and management
* Support teachers with any administrative tasks
* Promote good progress and outcomes by pupils
* Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge
* Prepare and present displays
* Take responsibility for pupils on visits, trips, and out-of-school activities as required
* Record and report on the learning needs, progress, and achievements of pupils
* Support pupils to develop their skills of independence, resilience, and confidence
* Support the use of ICT in the curriculum
* Administer first aid and/or medication (once trained)
* Participate in curriculum and management planning meetings, meetings with colleagues, parents, and other agencies
* Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school
* Work with others on curriculum and pupil development to secure improved outcomes
* Promote the safety and wellbeing of pupils
* Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment
* Ensure that safe working practices are adopted to maintain a safe working environment for employees and pupils
* Take part in the school’s appraisal and supervision procedures
* Participate in further training and development to improve teaching and learning
* Communicate effectively with pupils, parents, and carers
* Collaborate and work with colleagues and other relevant professionals within and beyond the school
* Develop professional relationships with colleagues
* Uphold public trust in the profession and maintain high standards of ethics and behaviour within and outside the school
* Have proper and professional regard for the ethos, policies, and practices of the school and maintain high standards of attendance and punctuality
