Description of what the apprentice will do in their role: As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff. What you’ll do at work Learn how to upholster bespoke items of furniture, such as sofas, chairs, beds and footstools Learn upholstery techniques, which covers the use of traditional skills, combined with the latest techniques which are used in contemporary upholstery manufacturing Learn how to cut and pattern match fabric Learn a practical trade within a growing industry Become a valued member of a friendly upholstery team working in a modern manufacturers Description about the apprenticeship standard training they will receive: You will be required to attend WEBS Training on a block release basis which is for a week at a time every 10 weeks, based at WEBS Training in Beeston Nottingham. As a upholsterer you will be based in the workshop and provided with tools and training required to fulfil the role. You will learn the underpinning knowledge that runs alongside your practical elements of the training. You will use a wide range of techniques whilst you complete a practical project in upholstery. Training will be provided in all areas of upholstery to ensure you can complete tasks to an extremely high standard that meet quality control You will learn and use traditional and modern techniques and materials to produce aesthetically pleasing furniture and carry out repairs and reupholstery of beds and other items. If you have already achieved GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above or have an equivalent qualification, you will be exempt from undertaking Functional Skills, however English and maths support will be provided for all apprentices throughout the length of their programme.
